Binding adventures
I actually like binding. For the longest time I was scared to, because you read all sorts of things about how painful it is, but I found that it relieves back pain for me, rather than cause it. That said...
There's warning for extreme heat for Saturday.
Me, remembering that I have to spend 12+ hours in formal clothes at a tournament :
- Fuck it, I'd rather deal with extreme dysphoria than bind in this heat.
Also me, realising that I'll be spending 12+ hours in a public position, dealing with competitors, coaches, crew and audience:
- Fuck it, I'd rather actually die of heat exhaustion than willingly increase my dysphoria by not binding.
RIP me, I guess.
Oh my god, this is totally lose /lose situation 😅but I hope, that at the end, no matter what you choose, you will be stÃll alive 😅
Thank you haha, I hope I'll be alive too. I'm trying to think of survival strategies xD
At least, please, stay hydrated 😂
It sounds like the issue here would be an accumulation of sweat in skin folds which can lead to red, sore skin. Have you considered using a clinical grade antiperspirant under the fold and an antifungal powder or cream (something with miconazole nitrate or clotrimazole) to the area? A lot of the rawness that happens in sweaty skin folds tends to be caused by fungal growth so this might be helpful.
Oh also, antiperspirant would be best applied the night before as it would absorb overnight to work during the day.
There are some other products out there that might be helpful but I don't think I know their international equivalent. Sweat Block wipes are pretty powerful and Carpe has a whole line of products for reducing sweat (including a dedicated under-breat antiperspirant). Anyway, I'll stop rambling now.
Hm, that's a good point. I hadn't really thought much of that. My plan was to carry an extra set of clothing (including another binder), so that I can change when/if I get soaked. But I'll look into it!
But I'll be with a sports binder, which is cut differently than everyday ones and doesn't allow that much sweat accumulation, so I hope together with antiperspirant it won't be too bad.
